Ativisha, also known as Aconitum heterophyllum, is native to the Himalayas and has a long history of use in ayurveda, especially in the management of pediatric diseases.
ACTIONS & USES:
In ayurveda, Ativisha is used to treat a variety of conditions, including:
- Bacterial infections: Research suggests that Ativisha inhibits the growth and multiplication of various pathogenic bacterial strains. In addition, it promotes phagocytosis of the infecting bacteria by boosting the immune system. It is thus quite useful in the management of bacterial infections.
- Piles: Ativisha has been found to be quite effective in the management of piles/haemorrhoids.
- Viral infections: Ativisha has been reported to inhibit the replication of viruses. It is thus quite useful in various viral infections.
- Fungal infection: Ativisha has been reported to possess anti-fungal activity, both when used topically, as well as, orally. It is thus used in treating various fungal infections, including candidiasis, and tinea infections.
- Immune disorders: Ativisha has been reported to boost immunity. It is thus used in managing diseases occurring from immune deficiency.
- Kidney disorders: Ativisha has been reported to be useful in various kidney disorders, including urinary tract infections and kidney damage.
HOW TO USE IT?
Ativisha could be used as –
- Ativisha powder – 1-3 gms, 3-6 times a day;
- Bal-chaturbhadra churna – 1⁄4 to 1 gm, 3-6 times a day;
- Ativisha ghan (extract) tablet – 1-2 tablets, 3-6 times a day;
- Ativisha Dry Syrup – 2.5 ml to 10 ml, 3-6 times a day;
- Infexie tablet – 1-2 tablets, 3-6 times a day, especially in the management of bacterial, viral, and fungal infections; and
- Entrid tablet – 1-2 tablets, 3-6 times a day, especially in the management of GI infections, entero-colitis, and piles.
