Dr.Vasishth’s Duralabha Tablet

Duralabha is a 1-3 ft, spiny shrub, growing widely in the Northern and Western parts of India. Its whole plant is widely used in vertigo. It contains Glycosides, Flavonoids, Terpenoids, Saponins, Alkaloids, and Trace elements.

ACTIONS & USES:

Duralabha has the following major pharmacological actions and therapeutic uses –

  1. Vertigo / Dizziness / Giddiness: Duralabha has been described by Acharya Chakradutta as the ideal drug for the management of vertigo. The same activity has been confirmed by modern scientific studies and our clinical experiences. It is thus quite useful in managing vertigo/dizziness/giddiness resulting from different causes.
  2. Thrombosis: Duralabha has been reported to prevent blood coagulation and dissolve the thrombi. Its efficacy to lyse the blood clots in vitro is 75% compared to the Stretokinase (86%). is thus useful in the prevention and management of thrombosis.
  3. Cerebral ischemia: Duralabha has been reported to protect brain cells against the damage resulting from ischemia. It is therefore useful in the prevention and management of cerebral ischemia.
  4. Cancer: Duralabha has been reported to prevent the multiplication and growth of tumor cells. It can therefore be used as a secondary drug in the management of tumors.
  5. Inflammatory, Painful, Febrile disorders: Duralabha has been reported to relieve pain, and alleviate fever and inflammation. It can therefore be used to manage painful diseases, fever, and inflammatory diseases.
  6. Ovulation disorders: Duralabha has been reported to harmonize female reproductive hormones and promote ovulation. It is therefore quite useful in the management of polycystic ovarian diseases (PCOD).

HOW TO USE?

  • Duralabha ghan tablet 600 mg (= 3 gm Duralabha whole plant powder) – Start 1-2 tablets, 3-6 times a day, depending upon the severity of the disease and the body weight of the patient. On improvement taper the dose and bring it to the minimum dose required. To be taken just after meals with plain water.

PRECAUTIONS:

Nothing specific. Largely safe for long-term use.
