Bhringraj, also known as Eclipta Alba, is a herb that has been used in Ayurvedic
medicine for centuries to promote hair growth and treat various hair disorders. It is
rich in nutrients such as protein, iron, and vitamins that are essential for healthy hair
growth. Bhringaraj is an annual, erect herb with white flowers, usually found in
marshy lands, across India. Its whole plant is used for medicinal purposes. It contains
wedelactone, Ecliptal, des-methyl wedelactone.
ACTIONS & USES:
Bhringaraj has the following major pharmacological actions and therapeutic uses –
- Hair disorders: Bhringaraj has been reported to protect and strengthen hair follicles. It is thus useful in the management of hair-fall, hair loss, and alopecia areata / totalis / universalis.
- Liver disorders: Bhringaraj has been reported to protect the liver against toxic substances and pathogenic organisms. It is used for the management of liver disorders – Hepatitis, jaundice, abnormal liver enzymes, fatty liver, and early cirrhosis.
- Acid peptic diseases: Bhringaraj has been reported to inhibit the excessive production of gastric acid, expedite the emptying of the stomach, and promote ulcer healing. On this basis these activities, it is useful in the management of acid-peptic diseases.
- Kidney disorders: Bhringaraj has been reported to protect the kidneys and correct their abnormalities. It is useful in the management of various kidney disorders – Early/reversible kidney failure, nephritis, and nephrotic syndrome.
- Pancreatitis: Bhringaraj has been reported to inhibit the secretion of trypsin. It is thus useful in the management of pancreatitis.
HOW TO USE?
Bhringraj could be used as –
- Bhringaraj ghan tablet 600 mg (= 3 gm Bhringaraj whole plant powder) – Start 1-2 tablets, 3-6 times a day.
- Locid tablet – 1-2 tablets, 3-6 times a day; especially for Acid-peptic diseases, Pancreatitis, Vomiting, and Ulcerative colitis.
- Hairtonz tablet – 1-2 tablets, 3-6 times a day; especially for low/slow hair growth, hair-fall, dandruff, alopecia areata / totalis / universalis.
- Hairtonz oil – external use for low/slow hair growth, hair fall, dandruff, alopecia areata / totalis / universalis.
PRECAUTIONS
Nothing specific. Largely safe for long-term use.
