Chances are, you will discuss the matter with your family, friends, and colleagues, who in turn will flood you with any number of advices, suggestions, and therapies. Of course, most of them are quite likely to suggest you to consult a doctor. And, because of the growing awareness about the possible adverse effects of allopathic medicines, they are quite likely to suggest you to consult an ayurveda doctor.
When consulted, ayurveda doctor will of course look into every detail related to your child, like – the height and weight of the parents, the overall health status of the mother when she was carrying him/her, general state of physical and mental health till date, any serious illnesses your child suffered from till today, overall lifestyle of your son/daughter, especially their eating habits, physical habits, sleeping pattern, etc.
Now, if your ayurveda doctor finds nothing wrong with the physical and mental health of your teenaged son/daughter, but finds something wrong with the lifestyle or general health, it is quite likely that he/she may prescribe your child some rasayana (tonic) drugs that could help him/her attain optimal growth.
The most effective and safe rasayana (tonic) drugs used to promote physical growth in ayurveda are – Ashwagandha, Kapikachhu, Shilajatu, and Yashad. Largely, these tonic drugs are believed to act by enhancing the synthesis and secretion of growth hormone by the pituitary gland in the brain. The growth hormone in turn accelerates the growth
of all the body organs, especially the bones and muscles.
Another, mode of action of the growth hormone is, it stimulates the synthesis and secretion of Insulin-like Growth factor-1 (IGF-1) by the liver. This in turn stimulates the growth of all the body organs, especially the bones and muscles.
Your doctor can prescribe the above-mentioned drugs – Ashwagandha, Kapikachhu, Shilajatu, and Yashad, as single drugs. Or, he/she may prescribe a multi-drug medicine that contains all of the four drugs. On such multi-drug medicine is – Dr.Vasishth’s HIGRO Tablet.
The recommended dose of HIGRO Tablet is – Teenaged boys and girls aged 11-14 years are usually prescribed 1 tablet 3 times a day, just after meals, whereas boys and girls aged 15 years or above are prescribed 1 tablet 3 times a day, just after meals, with plain water.
In addition, your ayurveda doctor may advice your teenaged son/daughter to eat more of proteins and less of fats and sugar, stay physically active, stay relaxed, and have enough of undisturbed sleep.
